Why did you join the RRP? Through being a TA for Soc 119, I was able to really experience the magic of small group discussion. I love being able to watch conversation as it weaves its way through a group. I truly believe that if I can help to create an honest and open environment, that dialogue can then ‘take it from there,’ and all voices can be thrown into the middle of the circle. Once all of the voices are there, it seems that they form into one, and connect us into the whole that we are. I love being able to facilitate and listen, without an agenda, just allowing myself to be guided by the dialogue and make connections through the questions that ‘give’ themselves to me. I believe that the only way to peace in the world, is through our circular dialogue and that is why I love and value being a part of this process so much.
Something you'd like people to know about you: I am a pretty silly person and enjoy talking to everyone and anyone. I love being ridiculous and playing camp-like games. Dancing is my favorite thing to do, it is one of those things that allows me full concentration in the moment. I also love the outdoors, in particular streams and running water. I also have a twin sister who is studying in Budapest this semester. I’m also really trying to become better at chess and hackey-sack.
Favorite Quote (verse): “We can transform our anger, into something more wholesome, like understanding. If we become angry at our anger, we will have two angers at the same time. We only have to observe it with love and attentions. If we take care of our anger in this way, without trying to run away from it, it will transform itself. This is peacemaking.”- Thich Nhat Hanh
“Although attempting to bring out world peace through the internal transformation of individuals is difficult, it is the only way.” – H.H. The Dalai Lama
