Name: Courtney Goldner
Graduation Year: 2004
Major: Journalism
How do you identify yourself racially/ethnically: Caucasian
Activities in college: Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority, Order of Omega, Dance Marathon, Peer Mentor for the Comm college soc 119 TA, RRP (yay!)
Activities after college: Teach for America 2004 Corps (Phoenix)
What you have gained from working with RRP? I gained more from Soc 119 and working with the RRP than I can possibly ever describe in one paragraph. Being a part of the RRP opened my eyes to the dynamic of opinions held by people concerning racial issues, socioeconomic issues, and the like. It made me realize more than ever that I wanted to spend my life striving for social change, and opening peoples eyes up to a variety of new perspectives, ideals, and belief systems. If it wasn't for this experience, I wouldn't be where I am now, working wit! h Teach for America and having one of the most validating experiences of my life.
Something you'd like people to know about you: I'm currently training to run the Rock and Roll Marathon in January 2005 with a bunch of Phoenix TFA people. If there are any potential sponsors out there get in touch!!
Where are you now? Phoenix, Arizona. I am teaching middle school in the Roosevelt School district and attending graduate school at Arizona State University. I will be getting my masters in secondary instruction and curriculum, and after my two year commitment with Teach For America I would like to get my Phd.
